Tile and stone adhesives are specialized bonding materials used to attach tiles and stones to surfaces such as floors, walls, and ceilings. Its ensure strong, durable bonds between tiles or stones and the surface they are being applied to. These adhesives come in various formulations to suit different types of tiles, substrates, and environmental conditions.

TileOX Tile Adhesives are used to securely bond ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and other tiles to floors in areas such as living rooms, kitchens, bathrooms, commercial spaces in interior, outdoors, swimming pool etc.

When it comes to choosing tile and stone adhesives, it’s important to select the right type based on the materials you’re working with, the conditions of the installation, and the desired strength and flexibility.

Know Correct Application of Tile Adhesive to Get the Best Tile Fixing Results.

  1. Plan the Layout and Levelness of Wall: To achieve a balanced and visually pleasing outcome, it is important to carefully plan the arrangement of your tiles. Once the plan is finalized, checking the levelness of the surface is a very important step before you begin tiling. To check for levelness, begin by using a long carpenter’s level to measure different points on the surface. Depending on the size of your project, use a small or large level for accuracy.
  2. Prepare the Surface: Remove any dirt, grease, dust, or old adhesive from the planned area. Use a mild cleaner and a damp cloth to wipe it down. Make sure the surface is completely dry before applying the adhesive. Also check for any cracks, holes, or uneven areas. If necessary, patch up these spots using filler or patching compound and allow it to dry completely before proceeding. Some surfaces, like cement board or drywall, may require a primer to help the adhesive bond better. Be sure to follow the adhesive manufacturer’s instructions.
  3. Mix the Tile Adhesive: Measure the appropriate amount of adhesive powder and water as indicated on the packaging. Adding too much water or not enough can affect the strength of the bond. Use a mixing tray or bucket and a drill with a mixing attachment, or mix by hand if it’s a small batch. Aim for a smooth, thick consistency, similar to peanut butter. Let the mixture sit for about 10 minutes to allow it to “slake” (a process where the adhesive fully absorbs water), then mix it again before use.
  4. Apply the Tile Adhesive: Apply a generous amount of tile adhesive to a small area of the surface using a notched trowel. Hold the trowel at a 45-degree angle to the surface and spread the adhesive in a thin, even layer. The notched side of the trowel will create grooves in the adhesive, which helps the tiles grip the surface better.
  5. Lay the Tiles: Start at one corner and press the tiles into the adhesive. For best results, twist each tile slightly as you press it to ensure a strong bond. Place spacers between the tiles to create even gaps for grout. The size of the spacer depends on the type of tiles you’re using and the desired grout joint width.
  6. Allow the Adhesive to Set: Allow the adhesive to set according to the manufacturer’s instructions—usually 24 hours. Do not walk on the tiles or apply grout until the adhesive has fully cured. We advise you that giving it sufficient ventilation will help with faster drying times for the tile adhesive.
  7. Grout the Tiles: Always start grouting after a 24-hour completed. Use a rubber grout float to spread the grout into the gaps between the tiles. Press it in firmly to ensure a good fill. Wipe away excess grout using a damp sponge, making sure to smooth the grout lines. Allow the grout to dry before wiping the tiles with a clean cloth.
  • Ceramic Tiles: Ceramic tiles are one of the most popular choices for flooring, walls, and backsplashes due to their versatility, durability, and aesthetic appeal. Whether you’re renovating your kitchen, bathroom, or other areas, ceramic tiles offer a wide range of designs, colors, and textures.
  • Vitrified Tiles: It is a type of ceramic tile made by heating a mixture of silica, clay, and other minerals at very high temperatures, this process makes them highly durable, dense, and resistant to water absorption. It is glossy, smooth finish and are commonly used for flooring in residential and commercial spaces.
  • Terracotta: It is a type of ceramic material made from natural clay that is fired at a lower temperature than other ceramics. Terracotta tiles are popular for their rustic, earthy appearance and are commonly used in flooring, roofs, and walls, particularly in Mediterranean, Spanish, and Southwestern-style homes.
  • Glass Mosaic Tiles: It is small, colorful tiles made from glass that are often arranged in intricate patterns to create decorative designs. These tiles are popular for adding a touch of elegance and sparkle to various surfaces, such as walls, backsplashes, floors, and swimming pools.
  • Porcelain: Porcelain Tiles are a type of ceramic tile made from fine-grain clay and fired at a higher temperature than regular ceramic tiles. This process makes porcelain tiles denser, harder, and more durable, with lower water absorption rates.
  • Natural Stone Cladding: Such stones like granite, limestone, slate, and marble, used for cladding purposes. Natural stone cladding provides a timeless, sophisticated look while being durable and low-maintenance.

Its application extends to interior & exterior floor & walls.

Tile adhesive and cement are both commonly used materials in construction, particularly for bonding tiles to surfaces, but they serve different purposes and have distinct advantages. Tile adhesive is generally considered to be better than cement for installing tiles because it’s more durable and easier to use.
In terms of bonding tile adhesive creates a stronger bond between the tile and the substrate than cement, the cement bonding is poor and hollow spaces.
The tile adhesives have flexible properties, which is important in fixing the tiles that may experience slight movement.
Tile adhesive is easy to use and can be applied immediately after mixing with water that’s easy to spread and works well with trowels.
Tile adhesives can be used on a variety of surfaces i.e. ceramic, vitrified, terracotta, glass mosaic tiles, porcelain, basalt & natural stone cladding as well but cement can be used for construction purpose only.
Tile adhesive is costly than cement. The cement is generally used in large construction project and RCC works but the tile adhesive is only used in tile and stone related works.
Tile adhesive has less cracking tile risk because it’s flexibility but the cement, being rigid, is more prone to cracking under temperature or moisture changes, which can lead to tile damage or loosening over time.
